Post ATTN: ALL TECH NERDS
I've upgraded my machine i.e. new mobo n cpu n ram but I've kept my hard drive and video card and case.

The problem is now booting the damn thing, I power it up the bios picks up everything fine and then when it gets to the Window XP splash screen it will load for a sec or two then a quick flash of Blue Screen of Death then resets itself.

This has happened to my old computer when I fked around with the BIOS setting, most noticeably the SATA settings. But I've pretty much played with every single combination there is in the BIOS and I can't get it to boot! I've chucked in an old 20g IDE hdd into it and seems to be the same problem :(

Do I have to get a new HDD in order to get it run?

No I just find the Windows XP drivers when put into another machine cause the reboot failure - blue screen of death.. we've had the same problem here at work with putting hard drives in other motherboard models - causes more problems than its worth.

if you do a repair job on it with your Windows XP disk you should be fine, and it should start first go, as it reloads all the basic drivers needed for your motherboard

Yeah most likely cause is what snowy sed. When Windows get preloaded/installe don a system the hardware drivers get installed (i.e. drivers for you HDD, Mobo, CPU, etc), so when u put that into a new machine and try boot up, it runs through BIOS fine (as the BIOS is integrated memory on your mobo), then when it *tries* to run windows it finally tried the existing drivers and since teh hardware-drivers dont match up, its BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)

As Snowy sed, just do a Windows Repair with your Windows CD and it should be fine.

It's solved now, I chucked my harddrive onto my mate's computer and backed it up then I just formatted it arse. It was time for a format anyway, it has gathered too much rubbish over the year.

It's good to see our small community is still up and alive!
